though I ignored it and since it had a link to it, I just laughed at it and was thinking it's part of a key logger, I was going to call Blizzard and ask them, but I don't feel like calling them and having to wait 4+ hours to get a daman answer considering it takes nearly all day to get a GD GM to answer a ticket anymore.
BTW please don't click on the link, I truly don't want your account to get stolen, and for those who are curios a little reverse psychology Please open the link :)

Patch day is looming (tomorrow?) and the downloader is broken. Other threads have reported the problem with the Player Test Realm (PTR) and now the live background downloader which has been primed with the new patch is failing, simply saying that the Torrent file is corrupt. Wine agrees with this, but if I delete the Torrent file in the Cache directory and re-run the BackgroundDownloader.exe in wine, it works for a while and eventually crashes.
The 2.3 patch is going to have to be downloaded and applied manually if this isn't resolved, and since it's currently 222 MB (including all of the new data for Zul'Aman and various updated zones like Dustwallow), that's going to be quite a pain.

okay, here is the deal. I haven't been on my computer for six months so when I got on today I tried to run wow and I got the whole black screen/gauntlet thing, not knowing what was going on. So I deleted wow from cedega(dumb) and proceeded to update stuff on my OS, my graphics driver and cedega itself. I then tried to install wow fresh with nt40, and wow wont let me do it with that. So I put it on winxp and I go through all the disc's and when it's done it gives me this message:
The folder "" could not be created. (InstallerCreateFolders)
The installation was stopped, but some files may have been left behind on the disk. (InstallerEngine::Install)
I don't know exactly what info about my system you all will need but I will list everything I know

I bought this, hearing great things about how it works flawless for so many people. But the installer wont even launch. I see many others have the same problem too. WTF? I'm on Ubuntu 7.04, have tried both the ATI proprietary driver and the default driver. Took me 10+ tries to get WoW to install and WoW:TBC wont happen no matter what.

Has anyone else tried applying the 2.3.0 test realm patch? The downloader verifies the patch, it starts patching in the WoWTest directory, then it gives the following error:
An error was detected while verifying the contents of the file "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Data\enUS\backup-enUS.MPQ". There may be a problem with your system, or with the drive at C:\. You can try updating again. If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support.
To check this installation for errors, click the "Repair" button. The Repair tool can automatically fix many update errors.
